Jaya – Love Is A Bird

Jaya are not from the UK (where they’re based), they’re not even from Europe, they’re from planet Earth. I think that’s fair to say, since the band consists of an Australian singer (Jaya McLoughlin), a Dutch bass player (Ronald Maas), and an Italian drummer (Stefano Magini). Following the successful release of their debut single Dreamer, in June 2016, the band toured in Germany and Holland and went on to release a further two singles.

28 April, Jaya release their new EP Happy With That. A wonderful collection of five edgy pop songs, each with their own pace and colour. The main constant is Jaya’s beautiful voice, that sometimes reminds me of Tracy Chapman. To promote the EP, the band will tour from the end of April through the end of June, playing six shows in their hometown London and another six throughout the Netherlands. It would be lovely and well-deserved to see them stretch their wings and be successful elsewhere as well.

Talking of flying out: Love Is A Bird is the first single off the EP.
