Wildcard (week 24):
Lockyer Boys – LATKD
Brothers Will and Charlie Lockyer are born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. They started their musical career as a cover band, which soon landed them stints as support act and at festivals. Their great harmonies, multi-instrumental talent and stage presence made the duo an immediate showstopper. Lockyer Boys are currently completing their debut album, which features original songs by the brothers themselves, and songs co-written with the likes of Daniel Powter, Brian Howes and Scott Helman.
Their sunny new single LATKD (âlike all the kids doâ) is released just in time for summer. Itâs a catchy and uplifting pop gem, co-written with Grammy-nominated producer Jeff Dawson and Alan Poettcker from These Kids Wear Crowns. The song is about being present and living in the moment, and trying to experience genuine happiness. âWill and I try to make people happy with our musicâ, says Charlie Lockyer. âTeenagers and maybe even young adults are often âhappy being sadâ. Why canât we be happy being happy? Thatâs the message of LATKD.”
This week, LATKD by Lockyer Boys is the Carte Blanche Music Wildcard. Itâll feature prominently at the top of this blog for a full seven days.
