Wildcard (week 30): Peach Fuzz – Fall Right Back To You
Just so you know, ‘peach fuzz’ refers to the soft, downy hair that grows on the face and body, especially noticeable on the face of young people before they develop a beard. But it’s also the name of an indie pop band from Naarm/Melbourne, Australia. A name that perfectly describes their music, which is juicy and sweet like velvet, but comes with a pit.
Peach Pit consists of singer Lucinda Gray, guitarist and singer Ben La, his drumming brother James La and bassist Lewis Rich. The band is best known for their catchy guitar riffs, soaring dual vocals and wild stage presence. Their music draws inspiration from ‘70s pop-rock and ‘90s indie rock, whilst putting a fresh and fuzzy spin on it.
The group was formed in 2019 by high school friends Ben La and Lewis Rich, who would jam to classic rock songs before they had jazz ensemble rehearsal. Neither of them could really actually jazz, so they decided to form a band together and play pop-rock music for fun. It wasn’t until 2022 that James La and their friend-through-a-friend Lucinda Gray joined the band.
Fall Right Back To You is Peach Fuzz’s new single. As captivating as ever, it’s released ahead of their new EP Isn’t It Obvious?, which is scheduled for delivery on 17 September.
Fall Right Back To You by Peach Fuzz is the new Carte Blanche Music Wildcard. It will be prominently displayed at the top of the blog for an entire week.

Wildcard (week 29): Ella Eyre – Space
Nobody knows why Ella Eyre’s 14-year career hasn’t resulted in super stardom yet. She’s had hits, solo and alongside artists like Sigala, Ty Dolla Sign, Banx & Ranx and Bastille, but her worldwide breakthrough has yet to come. However, after years of struggling in creative straightjackets, the prospects now look promising.
After her 2015 debut album, her sophomore record was 10 years in the making. During this time, she parted ways with her label and her partner. In doing so, she took back control of her career and her life. That freedom is audible on her second album Everything, In Time, which is due to come out on 21 November. Ahead of the long-player, one of the UK’s best vocalists releases her fiery new single Space.
The London-born singer and songwriter says about the track: “Space is about reaching your limits and drawing a line with humorous, but deadly-serious intentions. I had so much fun when I wrote this song because I was so done with an unwanted situation that it had actually become amusing. I wanted to create as much distance as possible for myself to heal, and even outer space didn’t seem far away enough. Sometimes you can only laugh about something hard – or write a savage song about it.”
A fierce and frank anthem about setting boundaries, Space is a powerful track. It showcases a raw and unfiltered side of Eyre, laden with a bold soul-R&B groove.
After Comeback (2014), Together (2015) and Just Got Paid (2018), Ella Eyre holds the Carte Blanche Music Wildcard once again. She will occupy a prominent Space at the top of the blog for an entire week.

Wildcard (week 28):
Grace Davies – Hotel Delilah
Grace Davies is a 28-year-old singer, songwriter, musician and producer from Blackburn, UK. In ‘The X Factor’ in 2017, she shook up the format by showcasing her original material throughout the competition, instead of covers. She ended as runner-up behind… well, I don’t even remember who won hat season.
In 2023, Grace was handpicked to write the official song of the European Athletics Championships in Rome. This tune, Illuminate, was released in April 2024. Her music has also been featured on international TV programmes, including ‘Love Island’, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, ‘Masterchef UK’, ‘American Idol’, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and ‘Eastenders’.
Today, after releasing 4 EPs which amassed over 100 million streams, she put out her debut album The Wrong Side Of 25. The record was very much inspired by ‘70s disco. Off-beat hi-hats, swinging strings, happy horns and sultry synths, they’re all there. And the euphoric track Hotel Delilah has got it all.
This week, it’s the Carte Blanche Music Wildcard and will be prominently displayed at the top of the blog for an entire week.
