Cassia – Another One Down
Ahead of their new album Lemon Gelato (out on 4 September), British trio Cassia release an upbeat new single. Another One Down sounds more groove-driven than earlier records, with prominent drums and percussion that provide a distinctive live-feeling. I dare you to sit still to this tune!

Mystery Jets – Flea Joint
Mystery Jets’ new album A Hole To See The Sky Through will arrive on 21 August with a new rhythm section. Twins Ollie and Eddie Taylor have stepped in on guitar and bass after the exits of William Rees and Jack Flanagan. The duo is well present on the band’s new single Flea Joint, which is built around soaring hooks and a hypnotic groove, influenced by the late ‘80s Madchester sound. Meanwhile, frontman Blaine Harrison’s vocals have a special, Thom Yorke-like quality on this epic tune.

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of het B-Grade University EP, Alex Lahey just released a Reunion Edition of it, featuring the original songs and five new versions of the tracks. One of those is a re-recording of Let’s Go Out, this time featuring Slowly Slowly.

Leoniden – Choking On Dir✞
Following I Still Feel, Choking On Dir✞ is the second single to precede Leoniden’s fifth album. It’s titled If You Say Forever One More Time, I’ll Remind You That We Die and will be released in early 2027. The song describes one of those days when everything seems to go wrong and life seems to be against you. Musically however, it’s an uplifting tune, ready to fight the bad spirits.

Alan Walker & Ava Max – Fate
O Fortuna is a poem from the medieval poetry collection Carmina Burana, which was put to music by Carl Orff in the 1930s. In the early 1990s, two Belgian dance acts simultaneously issues tracks that sampled this work, gaining high chart positions. However, they didn’t have the permission of Orff’s heirs, who had the singles removed from record stores and, consequently, the charts.
Apparently, the heirs did grant permission to Alan Walker & Ava Max to recreate the composition. Combining Walker’s beats and Max’s powerhouse vocals, they produced a pounding, empowering hi-NRG track, ready for dancefloors, festivals and workout playlists.
Fate by Alan Walker & Ava Max is the new Carte Blanche Music Wildcard. It will be prominently displayed at the top of the blog for an entire week.
