The Snuts – Coffee And Cigarettes
Despite being criminally ignored by most radio stations in 2019, rising Scottish band The Snuts built themselves a loyal live following. Rightfully so, for their concerts are energetic rock shows.
13 March, Jack Cochrane (vocals/guitar), Joe McGillveray (guitar), Callum ‘29’ Wilson (bass) and Jordan ‘Joko’ Mackay (drums) are set to release their Mixtape EP. It was recorded in LA with Inflo (Karen O, Danger Mouse, Michael Kiwanuka) and Tony Hoffer (Beck, Goldfrapp, M83). The EP will feature two previously unreleased tracks: Don’t Forget It (Punk) and the heart wrenching Boardwalk. The other three tracks are former singles All Your Friends, Fatboy Slim and Coffee And Cigarettes.
The latter is the band’s new single. It’s a rattling old-school rock anthem, which could have been a Jake Bugg song. Initially inspired by a Bob Dylan track, Cochrane calls it ‘a song that celebrates the simpler things in life’. He continues: “It is pretty evident we were keen to push the boundaries of our song-writing with this track.”

The Snuts – All Your Friends
The Snuts’ first demo, in 2016, was called Glasgow. Appropriately, for a Scottish band. Since then, the quartet’s star is rising fast. They played huge sold-out gigs and festival sets in their homeland, signed to Parlophone Records, and continued to release massive indie tunes.
Just like their debut album, which the band are currently recording, their new single All Your Friends was produced by Inflo, who worked with Danger Mouse, Michael Kiwanuka and others. The Arctic Monkeys-like track is full of rock ‘n roll swagger. It possesses an irresistibly catchy raw edge and a massive chorus. No doubt, The Snuts will be one of 2019’s break-out bands.

Broken Bells – Shelter
Nine years have past since the single The High Road marked the first release of Danger Mouse & James Mercer’s collaborative project Broken Bells. During that period, the Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley and The Black Keys producer and the Shins frontman put out two albums together: Broken Bells (2010) and After The Disco (2014).
The duo maintain that four year interval with the release of their brand new song Shelter. With an interesting, rare groove kind of drum beat, experimental synths, understated guitar lick and catchy chorus, it convinces instantly.

Electric Guest – Back For Me
In 2012, only one year after their formation, Los Angeles band Electric Guest released their debut album Mondo. They managed to have it produced by Danger Mouse and the singles This Head I Hold and The Bait provided them with a fair amount of airplay.
Now, it’s time for the next step. 12 January they announced a new track on their site, writing:
“~*~ new song ~*~“Back 4 Me”… Breath it in. Hopefully enjoy it. Came from the heart, just like the last one. It’s a whopper so play it loud. Also… our new album comes on Feb 17th. It’s called Plural.”
But let’s start with that new single, shall we?
