Stuck On Planet Earth – Ghosts On The Radio
Adam Bianchi (guitars/vocals), Al Capo (bass/vocals), and Andrew Testa (drums) are Toronto-based alternative rock band Stuck On Planet Earth. They formed the band as teenagers in 2007. Since then, they developed their sound over thousands of hours of playing together on stage and in the studio. In 2020, SOPE are known for their primal, high-energy live shows and a signature mix of alternative rock and R&B.
13 years after its formation, the band is finally set to release its debut album Beautiful Nowhere on 26 June. Ghosts On The Radio is their new single. A rock track with big guitars and hard hitting drums, with the vocals front and center in the mix. Stuck On Planet Earth call the new track âan homage to some of our biggest musical inspirations,â delivering âa bass line that has Dr. Dreâs The Chronic vibe and bright guitar style chanks channelling The Policeâs Andy Summersâ.

Stuck On Planet Earth – Rising
Remember 1987 novelty hit Stuck On Earth by Alf? It was actually produced by Dutch mixer Ben Liebrand and based on samples from TV series âAlfâ. It was a Top 10 hit in Liebrandâs home country and also reached the charts in Australia and New Zealand.
20 years later, teenagers Adam Bianchi, Al Capo and Andrew Testa from Ontario called their band Stuck On Planet Earth. Talking to The Reviews Are In, the Canadians said about the origins of that name: âHonestly, we just wanted a band name that was original, and was a statement. We all really liked Stuck On Planet Earth because the name has a lot of power when you say it.â The band cite The Police, Jimmy Eat World, blink-182, Nirvana and Foo Fighters as their influences.
In the first quarter of 2020, Stuck On Planet Earth release their long overdue debut album Beautiful Nowhere. Rising, a song about pain, sacrifice and perseverance, is its first single. âLife can get difficult, and we all have personal struggles and challenges, but itâs that constant belief and strength to continue going thatâs embedded within all of us that makes us resilient.â

Your âAll-Timeâ Favourites (2017-2022)
The last six years, starting in 2017, I posted 10 musical recommendations per week on this blog. A total of well over 3.000 tracks, mostly by upcoming â often female (fronted) – artists from all over the world. As I explained yesterday, Carte Blanche Music is entering a new era. One in which Iâll focus my efforts on my constantly updated Spotify playlist.
For sure, that doesnât mean the blog is closing down. Itâll continue to be the home of my âbest ofâ collection (Wernerâs Weekly) on Monday mornings (CET) and my favourite new track (the Carte Blanche Music Wildcard), every Wednesday morning. Also, Iâll post the latest additions to my playlist on Saturdays. For updates, follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
No better way to round up the last six years than by publishing the Your âAll-Timeâ Favourites, a chart compiling the 500 most popular (as in best-read) Carte Blanche Music recommendations from 2017 to 2022. Youâll find the Top 25 below, but click through for the full list. My original recommendations are behind the links. If youâre an artist, donât be shy and search (Ctrl+F) to find out if you made the list. You might be surprisedâŠ
Enjoy and thanks for joining the ride so far. Follow the Carte Blanche Music playlist (click ââ„â in Spotify) for many more recommendations to come!

Your favourites (2020)
My container playlist Carte Blanche Music 2020 doesnât only include all of the 994 songs I recommended last year. It also holds the 100 best tracks in my opinion, the Carte Blanche Music Top 2020, which I published yesterday. But thatâs only my selection. Isnât it more interesting to see which of my recommendations you read the most? In other words: what were your favourites in 2020?
I think itâs funny to see the Carte Blanche Music blog has a strong archive function. Thatâs apparent from the number of older posts you still like to visit (and which you find via search engines). A good example is the best read article this year: ToukassĂ© by Shanguy. It stems from 2019, just like 24 other entries in the list below. Even more impressing is La Roi De Murphy, Belgian songstress AngĂšleâs debut single from 2017 (also her break-through), which is still among the 20 most read blogs in 2020.
Thank you for being such loyal visitors of Carte Blanche Music. Don’t miss a single recommendation by following me on Twitter, Facebook or, new for 2021, Instagram! Iâll do my best to make sure those accounts will soon be your favourites too, just like the tracks below:
