G Flip feat. Upsahl – Scream
This one is not for the faint-hearted. As G Flip says herself: “There’s no hiding the fact that this song is about sex. This is my horniest song to date.”
G Flip, born as Georgia Flipo 27 years ago, is an upcoming Australian singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. They’ve been playing drums since the age of nine. Percussion still forms a big part of their songwriting process, as you can hear in their new single Scream. This track is a collaboration with American singer and songwriter Upsahl, who wrote tracks for the likes of Dua Lipa, Anne-Marie and Madison Beer.
Both artists are big admirers of one another. “The day G sent me the song, I lost my shiiiit”, says Upsahl. “I’m such a fan of G and of how real and authentic all of their songs are. I’m all for being unapologetically sexual in songs and ‘Scream’ embodies all that.”
This brings us back at the beginning of this piece. To pick it up from there, a horny song deserves a video which suits the subject. In that respect, this one doesn’t disappoint. The clip is spicey en includes skin and smooching to such an extent that G issued a warning. “To my family… probably don’t watch the clip cause it gets a bit too raunchy!!”
Musically (still the most important part of a song, in my opinion), Scream is a well-produced track. It’s slick, yet edgy, and sensual but with powerful drum breaks. You can leave that to G Flip. The falsetto chorus is ridiculously catchy. All in all: hot as hell!

Upsahl – Stop!
Phoenix singer-songwriter Taylor Upsahl comes from a musical family. Her grandmother and grandfather were music teachers, and her father played guitar in several pop-punk and alt-rock bands. She herself started playing the piano and guitar at the age of five. In sixth grade, Upsahl began writing songs and self-released her first, more acoustic-minded music at 14. Three years later, she graduated from Arizona School For The Arts.
Her 2019 single Drugs has since been used in nearly 2.000.000 TikTok videos, making her something of a phenomenon on the platform. That same year, the artist gained many new fans touring with PVRIS, Joywave, Broods and Young The Giant, and playing the Lollapalooza festival. 2020 however topped all of this. She co-wrote Good In Bed for Dua Lipa’s Future Nostalgia album, as well as tracks for Anne-Marie and Madison Beer.
Stop! is Upsahl’s first single of 2021. With an overall Billie Eilish-like coolness, it deals with the overwhelming, even frightening feeling of falling for someone, and what it does to you. ’Oh it feels like, my hearts gonna beat so fast, gonna beat so fast, gonna beat so fast that it might stop’. In her own words: “I’m unapologetic about being a sexual person, so here’s a song about being horny and the thirst for another person.”
I’m sure nothing can stop this track from becoming the banger it potentially is.

Wildcard (week 22):
Oston – Whatshisface
With hundreds of thousands of fans to her name, Oston is big on TikTok. Apart from that (or perhaps thanks to that), she’s also building a career in music. The artist, born as Austin Wolfe, released her debut EP Sitting At The Kids Table in 2019. Her first album, 2021’s Am I Talking Too Much?, was later expanded and renamed I’m Definitely Talking Too Much. Funny!
Despite the pre-dominant lyric ‘We don’t speak’, Orson’s new single is called Whatshisface. The swinging alt. pop track taps in on the popular subject of break-up, heartbreak and empowerment. Or rather… skip the heartbreak. In this song, co-written by Upsahl, Orson celebrates the 1 year anniversary of her cutting ties with a relationship that no longer served her. By the sound of it, she couldn’t be happier with that decision. Even better: it produced a powerful hate song that could easily turn her break-up into her break-through.
Whatshisface by Oston is the new Carte Blanche Music Wildcard. It’ll feature prominently at the top of this blog for a full week. My bad, who’s that?
