Au/Ra – Dance In The Dark
Born on Ibiza, raised on Antigua, 17-year-old Au/Ra (real name: Jamie Stenzel) is an island girl with German roots. Her father is a famous German dance producer. Kickstarted when British DJ duo CamelPhat remixed her track Panic Room, she now stands on her own feet. So much so, that she didn’t just release one new track, but two: Medicine and Dance In The Dark.
The latter is my favourite. It’s a rather experimental, sample- and beat-heavy, up-tempo electro-pop track. Au/Ra explains: “Dance In The Dark is about the acceptance of the dark times that will inevitably be part of our lives. Life will never be perfect, and without the bad, there’s no good either.”
