European Border Breakers Chart 24 August 2018
Every Friday around noon, we publish a fresh European Border Breakers Chart. Or… multiple charts, to be exact. The main Top 100 indicates cross-border success by emerging European artists and combines airplay and streaming data. But if you wish, you can also check each data stream separately, by viewing the Airplay Chart or the Streaming Chart. It’s fascinating to see the differences.
To give you one example: one of my favourite entries in this week’s chart, former Carte Blanche Music Wildcard King Of The Jungle by Shanguy (pictured), is – shamefully! – not played enough on the radio to reach the Airplay Top 100. However, Polish people love it so much, that the track is at #11 the Streaming Chart. This gives the song enough leverage for it to appear in the combined Top 100. Meanwhile, their debut single La Louze is still #15 at Streaming.
All 10 fresh tracks among this week’s 22 (re)entries are listed below:
#30: Sam Fender – Dead Boys
#74: Lukas Leon – XTC
#87: Yazmin Lacey – Still
#89: Bad Sounds – Couldn’t Give It Away
#90: Emily Burns – Test Drive
#94: Yazmin Lacey – Sun Is Ours
#95: Saint Lanvain – If Jesus Loves Me
#96: Shanguy – King Of The Jungle
#99: Alligator – Shadow By Your Side
#100: Miami Yacine – Kokaina

More charts, like the Tips (ranking the tracks that are on their way to the Top 100), the Airplay Chart and the Streaming Chart, are available at www.europeanborderbreakerschart.eu, where you can also listen to all of the tracks and watch their videos, as well as share them via social media.

European Border Breakers Chart 17 August 2018
One of the most promising European bands around, Pale Waves (singer Heather Baron-Gracie pictured), are currently with three tracks in the European Border Breakers Chart. This week, they score their first Top 10 hit, as Eighteen rockets from #21 to #9. Outside the Top 10, artists like Ten Tonnes, Yungblud, Boy Azooga and Goat Girl (all with multiple simultaneous hits) spice up the chart with their guitars. Further proof that rock ‘n’ roll isn’t dead (are you listening, Lenny Kravitz?).
This edition of the EBBChart counts 24 (re)entries, mostly songs that have visited the Top 100 before. Four of them, though, are completely new to our weekly showcase of fresh European talent. They are:
#37: Feng Suave – Honey, There’s No Time
#40: Brother Leo – Strangers On An Island
#62: Kolabeech feat. Betsy – Everybody’s Free
#89: Ruthven – Hypothalamus

European Border Breakers Chart 10 August 2018
The European Border Breakers Chart isn’t your average chart. Not only does it exclusively contain emerging European artists with their first successes outside their own countries, but it’s also quicker than any other chart. I’m not the bragging kind, and this week’s Top 100 once again proves my point: almost one third of the chart is fresh compared to last week, and nearly half of the 32 entries have never been in the list before.
You’ll find these 15 first-timers below, with the Carte Blanche Music Wildcard of this week, Uh Huh by Jade Bird (pictured), proudly leading the pack:
#35: Jade Bird – Uh Huh
#43: Silk City feat. Desiigner & Goldlink – Loud
#44: Sean OB – Trouble
#51: Ten Tonnes – G.I.V.E.
#56: Josh. – Cordula Grün
#71: Big Pineapple – Another Chance
#72: Jimothy Lacoste – I Can Speak Spanish
#76: Flowliner feat. Kevin D & Stavroz Martina – Doo Wop
#78: Superorganism – Congratulations
#83: Charlotte Adigéry – 1,618
#86: Lucie Horsch – Concerto in C-Minor RV 441: III. Allegro
#90: Kojaque – Last Pint
#91: J. Bernardt – On Fire
#96: Andy Brown – Talk Of The Town
#100: Free Love – Pushing Too Hard

European Border Breakers Chart 3 August 2018
A chart is a 24/7 thing. Once published, you can consult it around the clock. In the case of the European Border Breakers Chart, there is even much more to explore than just the Top 100. You can split the list into an Airplay Chart and a Streaming Chart, check the tracks that are bubbling just under the Top 100 in the Tips Chart, search the chart archive, watch all the available videos and listen to the songs via streaming platforms, check in what countries each track is successful, etc.
If you’d like to receive an email upon publication (every Friday around noon), simply subscribe to our newsletter.
This week, the EBBChart is a 24/7 thing in more ways than one. The Top 100 counts 24 entries, 7 of which are completely fresh. I’ve listed them below:

#82: Sam Fender – Leave Fast
#87: Apre – All Yours
#88: Cosha – Sad Train Beat (pictured)

European Border Breakers Chart 27 July 2018
With large parts of Europe now officially in a heatwave, we can announce the winner of the battle for the summer hit of 2018. It’s the Hugel Remix of Belle Ciao by El Profesor (pictured). After claiming the top position in our Streaming Chart for the sixth week in a row, it’s now also the new #1 in this week’s overall European Border Breakers Chart, which takes both streaming and airplay into account. Following the worldwide success of the Netflix series ‘La Casa De Papel’, which it features in, the song now scores in Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Finland, France, and Luxembourg.
Belle Ciao overtakes the first place from Liam Payne & J Balvin’s Familiar, that is a hit in over three times as many countries, but reaches less people. Not only does El Profesor enjoy a massive number of plays on streaming platforms, but at the same time, radio stations are playing the song during hours with many listeners.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the chart, we find 29 (re)entries, the following 10 of which never graced the Top 100 before:
#9: Silk City feat. Mapei – Feel About You
#73: Pale Waves – Eighteen
#78: New Hope Club – Medicine
#82: Maruv – Drunk Groove
#88: Punctual feat. Kid Ink & Skinny Living – King Without A Crown
#89: Amber Arcades – Alpine Town
#92: J. Bernardt – Motel
#94: Jubel feat. Neimy – Dancing In The Moonlight
#97: Lvndscape feat. Cathrine Lassen – Dive With Me
#100: Yazmin Lacey – Black Moon

European Border Breakers Chart 13 July 2018
It’s Friday the 13th, oh happy day! And there are more reasons to be cheerful. For many people the holiday season has started, for instance. Nevertheless, the European Border Breakers Chart will continue to be updated every Friday around noon. In fact, we just did.
Because of the holiday season, many well-known artists refrain from releasing new material. With a little luck, radio stations and streaming services will put more emerging artists in their playlists. And upcoming artists, that’s what the EBBChart is about. European artists, to be precise.
This week’s Top 100 counts 30 (re)entries. Eight of these songs enjoy their very first week in the chart. Here they are:
#25: Tom Grennan – I Might
#32: Yungblud (pictured) – Medication
#61: KMN Gang – KMN Member
#65: Sigrid – Schedules
#78: Lucie Horsch – Flautino Concerto in C Major, RV 443

In the current hot summer weather, the European Border Breakers Chart is an oasis of freshness. There’s no other pool of new European music that’s so quick to discover such a diverse set of future talent from the continent. If you think that’s a bold statement, look at this week’s Top 100. It contains no less than 35 (re)entries! 16 of these tracks are in the chart for the first time.
Allow me to pick one as an example. Nana Adjoa (pictured) is a young Dutch talent, whose debut single The Resolution was a Carte Blanche Music Wildcard over a year ago. She planted the first seeds for international success with her showcase at this year’s ESNS festival. It was an intimate affair, just like her music. Her single Honestly has now been picked up by French radio, resulting in Adjoa’s first EBBChart entry at #82.
This is the complete list of this week’s entries:
#38: The Blaze – She
#44: Pale Waves – Noises
#51: Takagi & Ketra feat. Giusy Ferreri & Sean Kingston – Amore E Capoeira
#52: B Young – 079ME
