European Border Breakers Chart 9 March 2018
I’m not exaggerating when I state the European Border Breakers Chart is the most refreshing chart of all. Once again, I have to issue a Code Blue warning, as the Top 100 counts 24 (re)entries this week, 7 of which are complete newcomers. How’s that for discovering new music?
European Border Breakers Award winner Alma keeps scoring hit after hit. Good Vibes (feat. Tove Styrke) off her Heavy Rules Mixtape is this week’s highest entry at #16. The other newcomer follow at respectful distance: Wiinston – Rosa (#47), Tom Gregory – Losing Sleep (#48), Superorganism – Night Time (#61), Mist feat. Mr Eazi & Fekky – Display Skills (#68), Day_S – Elbows (#82), and, saving the best for last: Lova – You Me And The Silence (#97; pictured).
Two of these entries even have another track lined up to enter the Top 100 next week: both Superorganism and Alma appear in the Tips chart, which also features Hourglass by Imitating Aeroplanes and Une Envie Méchante by Tim Dup, by the way.

European Border Breakers Chart 26 January 2018
One week ago, many European radio stations attended the ESNS showcase festival in Groningen, the Netherlands. Some of the appearing artists clearly made a big impression, resulting in significant airplay. This shows in this week’s European Border Breakers Chart…
Yungblud (pictured) has four tracks (or five, if you want) inside the Top 100: I Love You, Will You Marry Me sits at #17, his latest single Polygraph Eyes enters at #34, the mash-up of Camilla Cabello’s Havana and Dua Lipa’s New Rules that he played for Studio Brussel comes in at #74 thanks to airplay on that Belgian station, and the song that started his career, King Charles, re-enters at #93.
Another artist that clearly took advantage of his presence at the festival, is EBBA winner Youngr. His collab with Endor, Give It Up, is still at #33, his new single Ooh Lordy is new at #62 and the track that won him his EBBA, Out Of My System, re-enters at #89. Tom Grennan holds three positions as well: Found What I’ve Been Looking For (#21), Royal Highness (#24), but the best of them all, his just-released single Sober, crashes in at #48.
Jade Bird hits the jackpot with her latest single Lottery as well, by entering at #59, and Arp Frique‘s Nos Magia is new at #82.
Other entries this week are Amber Arcades – It Changes (#60), Lotto Boyzz feat. Vianni – Bim Bam (#69), Sea Girls – What For (#73), Harry Styles – Wild Thoughts (#78), Farah Elle – Teardrop (#95), Rosie Carney – Awake Me (#96), and The Surfing Magazines – New Day (#98).

European Border Breakers Chart 19 January 2018
From last Wednesday through Saturday the ESNS festival takes place in Groningen, the Netherlands. The showcase festival for emerging European bands. During daytime music professionals come together at the ESNS conference to meet colleagues from other countries and to join panel sessions. It’s at the ESNS conference, exactly two years ago, where the European Border Breakers Charts were launched. And it’s also the place, where this week the next step was announced: the addition of streaming data to compile an even more relevant chart. If you want to read more about that, click here.
Meanwhile, the show goes on. And how! One quarter of the EBBChart Top 100 consists of (re)entries this week, 14 of which are first timers. Sigrid (pictured) and Skott seem to benefit most of the fact they won a European Border Breakers Award this year (which was presented to them last Wednesday, here in Groningen). Their tracks Anything Could Happen (an Ellie Goulding cover, played live at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge) and Stay Off My Mind enter the chart, at #25 and #56, respectively.
The other entries are Bad Sounds – Are You High? (#39), Témé Tan – Menteur (#47), Hugo Helmig – Eyes Wide Shut (#58), Shame – Concrete (#63), Dadju – Reine (#70), Trobi feat. Boaz van de Beatz & Adïka – U Don’t Know (#82), Sassy 009 – Are You Leaving (#87), Takagi feat. Ketra, Elisa & Tommaso – Da Sola / In The Night (#94), Ramz – Barking (#95), Octavian – Party Here (#96), Kilnamana – Adios Amigo (#99), and 23 Unofficial – Ain’t Bothered (#100).
