Is it your work or hobby to discover new artists and music? Are you for example working for a radio station, a booking agency, a management company, in the live industry or are you a fellow music blogger? Then the European Border Breakers Chart is an indispensable piece of information. Each week, it ranks emerging European artists breaking borders across Europe.
This week’s chart has 8 first-timers among a total of 14 (re)entries: Liam Payne – Bedroom Floor (#36), Pixx – Romance (#63), this week’s Carte Blanche Music Wildcard Dagny – Love You Like That (#75; pictured), Bausa – Was Du Liebe Nennst (#88), Naaz – Up To Something (#89), Eddy De Pretto – Fête De Trop (#91), Chris & Kem – Little Bit Leave It (#92), and Everything Is Recorded – Show Love (#98).
Also, the chart has a new #1 this week. Want to know which one? You can check the complete Top 100 by clickicg the ‘EBBChart’ tab in the top menu of this blog (loading of the PDF may take a little while). For more charts (like the Tips, ranking the tracks that are on their way to the Top 100), please visit www.europeanborderbreakerschart.eu, where you can listen to all of the tracks and watch their videos as well.

European Border Breakers Chart 29 September 2017
Some of the artists who had their first success in the European Border Breakers Chart over the past year, enter again this week with their latest efforts. Most impressing is the accomplishment of Finnish emerging artist Alma (pictured). Her new single Phases comes in at #6 this week. This isn’t given to many artists. The track features French Montana, who is an American, by the way.
Another future promising artist that you have come to know through the EBBChart is Anne-Marie. Her new track Heavy enters at #19 this week. Her previous singles Do It Right, Alarm and Ciao Adios reached #27, #6 and #2 respectively. Is Heavy destined for #1? Watch this space…
Other first-timers this week are Yungblud – I Love You Will You Marry Me (#78), Borokov Borokov – Had Ik Maar Wat Meer Vakantie (#81), Témé Tan – Coups De Griffe (#82) and Davai feat. Cire – Replay (#84). Elsewhere, seven tracks make a re-entry in this week’s chart.

European Border Breakers Chart 22 September 2017
A new edition of the European Border Breakers Chart is online. I’ll talk to you about the Top 100 in a bit, but perhaps the most interesting entry in this week’s charts can be found at #10 in the Tips By Country section. There you’ll find arguably the very first chart hit of a song completely composed via artificial intelligence. How do you like Daddy’s Car by Flow Machines? It is written with algorithms that should make it sound like a song by The Beatles (pictured). Did they succeed? Listen and make up your own mind!
This week’s Top 100 counts 16 entries, half of which are completely fresh: Niall Horan – Too Much To Ask (#11), Alan Walker – The Spectre (#52), Soleima – Paper (#85), Faire – Marie Louise (#86), Girli – Hot Mess (#91), E. Mak feat. Big Zeeks – Yo (#92), Pale Waves – Television Romance (#94) and Paper James – Eiland (#97).

European Border Breakers Chart 1 September 2017
Last year, Dua Lipa (pictured) was the most successful emerging British artist in terms of airplay outside her home country, which won her a European Border Breakers Award last January. The same evening she was handed the Public Choice award. But despite all of that, she never reached the top spot in the European Border Breakers Chart. Until now. In its seventh chart week, New Rules dethrones Jonas Blue’s Mama. Mi Gente by J. Balvin sneaks ahead of him as well, rounding off the top 3.
Further down the EBBChart, there is plenty of action too. And very much to discover. No less than 10 out of all 14 (re)entries this week have never been in the Top 100 before. Highlights included an acoustic cover Elbow-singer Guy Garvey did of David Bowie’s classic Let’s Dance (in at #91), Danish producer Vera who teams up with Norwegian singer Okay Kaya for bouncy single Falling (#94) and another Danish entry: The Dead-On’s Lovesick (#100).
