Christon – Where Do We Go From Here
Well, I was right, wasnât I? đ . Christon is about to follow-up his first EP Towns (with the singles SOS Warning, Bonfire, Icarus and Perfect World) with a second EP, Cities. Like Towns, Cities will contain six tracks, the first of which is now released as his new single.
Where Do We Go From Here is a modern day protest song, addressing the subject of refugee problems. The song is about a white Western boy who is in a secret relation with a Muslim girl. They must flee to be able to be safe with each other, but where to?
The two EPâs together will form Christonâs solo debut album Towns And Cities (bet you didnât see that title coming đ ), which will be out 31 March. Both digitally, on cd and vinyl.

Moby & The Void Pacific Choir – A Simple Love
Moby may be vegan, musically he is an omnivore. His legacy so far covers all possible genres. After releasing two singles with The Void Pacific Choir (consisting of Mindy Jones, Julie Mintz, Jonathan Nesvadba, Joel Nesvadba, Jamie Drake and Lauren Tyler Scott) in 2015, they brought out the full album These Systems Are Failing under that moniker in October 2016. A heavy album, on which Moby returns to his punk rock roots. In the eighties, before he rose to stardom with his hit Go, he was guitarist in hardcore punk band Vatican Commandos and alternative rock group Ultra Vivid Scene. But underneath a blanket of guitars the album is filled with beautiful melodies. And beautiful messages, as well.
The first single Are You Lost In The World Like Me? (with its great animated video) was about smartphone addiction and now Moby attacks a subject thatâs even closer to his heart. His new single A Simple Love is about animal suffering. The video focuses on pigs, but the real pigs are of course the humans involved in these practicesâŠ

SĂ€len – Heartbreak Diet
If you missed out on their earlier singles IILWMBF (Iâm In Love With My Best Friend), Diseasey, The Drwg and Copper Kiss (like I did, to be honest), this is your chance to get to know SĂ€len. Not the Swedish town, but the London pop trio. There is a connection though. They âchoseâ the band name by throwing a dart at a map and SĂ€len was where it landed (true story).
What can you expect from SĂ€len (except potential future stardom)? I like this description: âsweet sugar-pop with a bitter aftertasteâ. And I like their music, obviously. Otherwise it wouldnât be on this blog⊠Heartbreak Diet is the new single.

Llorca – Waiting
Do you like Safe From Harm by Massive Attack? Thereâs Nothing Like This by Omar? Donât Look Any Further by Dennis Edwards & Siedah Garrett? In other words, do you like a fine groove? Then quickly hit the play button below and read on to find out moreâŠ
Llorca (first name: Ludovic) was born in the north of France in 1974. His father being one of the first computer programmers in the country and his mother being fond of music, his destiny was clear from the beginning: making music with computers. He started composing music for computer games on a Commodore 64 at the age of 14 and improved his skills from there on.
As a DJ, Llorca added black music genres like funk, disco and soul to the mix and gradually created his own style, that could be heard on his debut album New Comer in 2001. Since then he made many remixes under several aliases, but his second album has yet to come out. Well, save the date, for Llorca will release The Garden on 7 April. His groovy new single is appropriately called WaitingâŠ

Jonas Monar – Alle Guten Dinge
There are songs that already start to stand out during the intro. Where it doesnât take more than a few seconds to know: this is a good pop song. When that is the case, it is very rare that the song ends up a disappointment.
I had that feeling when I first heard Alle Guten Dinge, a song by German talent Jonas Monar about indestructible friendships. This is only his second single and the title track for his debut album that will be out on 10 March.

Adna – Thoughts
Born in Bosnia, raised in Sweden and currently living in Berlin. Now this is a real European artist! Adna Kadic her music is being described as pure beauty with a darker side. Her debut album Night, released in 2014, was quickly followed up by Run, Lucifer. And now she is ready to unleash her third album Closure, although weâll have to wait until 17 March.
The first single off it is already here. Early fans may recognise Thoughts, as it was the closing track on her debut album. However, that version was mostly instrumental and this is a greatly updated recording.
Speaking about the song, Adna explains: âI wrote this when I was 16 as some kind of declaration of love to the place where I have my roots. Despite all the sorrow and the melancholy, itâs the most beautiful place I know about. And I wanted to make this song again, because it feels important to also see and think of the beauty in the things that otherwise are shown as something sorrowfully.â

The Sherlocks – Was It Really Worth It?
What do ABC, Arctic Monkeys, Paul Carrack, Joe Cocker, The Human League, Iron Maiden, The Last Shadow Puppets, Moloko, Pulp and many other artists have in common? Theyâre all from Sheffield. And now we can also add The Sherlocks to that list.
After building up a great live reputation they have now reached the point of a potential full-blown breakthrough. This new single could do the trick. They wrote it years ago and itâs been on their set lists ever since. This recorded version sounds like a hit to me. At least, this high energy pop rock song could do as well on the radio as it has already proven to do live.

Wildcard (week 7): Fishbach – Y Crois-Tu?
I love France. So much so, that our family has a second home there. And I love French music. So much so, that I will give it a second home on this blog. Only yesterday I featured Fishbach here. Today I decided to take Y Crois-Tu to the next level, as far as Carte Blanche Music is concerned.
The whole coming week the song will feature prominently on top of this blog as the new Wildcard. Not because it is an obvious hit, but because it deserves to be one. And because I want to do everything I can to help make this a reality. After all, itâs high time for âthe new Christine & The Queensâ. Will Fishbach be it? Letâs give it a shot… Play it loud!

Marika Hackman (feat. The Big Moon) – Boyfriend
The Marika Hackman on Boyfriend appears to be a different Marika Hackman than we heard on her folky, downtempo debut album We Slept At Last. On her new single, Marika teams up with the band The Big Moon, which results in a triumphant, upbeat affair, full of power chords.
And that is only the musical side of things. Boyfriendâs lyrics are great as well. Witty, ironic and flat out funny. The song is about a boy who doesnât take his girlfriendâs cheating seriously because itâs with another girl, not another boy. I hope Marika has more of these gems up her sleeve for her next album!

Fishbach – Y Crois-Tu?
Fishback is the stage name of 25 year old French singer-songwriter Flora Fishbach. Her first musical endeavour was singing in a metal band, but now she makes electronic pop, influenced by eighties and nineties music. At the end of 2015 she released her first EP and her debut album Ă Ta Merci has just seen the light.
The album is not yet available on Spotify, but you can find the first single on a compilation of her label Entreprise. As youâll hear, the music, the melody, the way of singing⊠itâs all 100% French. Check the part that starts at [2â50]. Thereâs only one country that could possibly come from. This song is a great introduction to Fishbach, as far as Iâm concerned.
