The Hunna – Piece By Piece
British rock band The Hunna only exists since 2015. They name bands like Kings Of Leon, Foals and Queen as their inspiration. Last August The Hunna released their first album 100, which included the singles Bonfire, We Could Be, You And Me and Still Got Blood. Saving the best for last, they just came up with the fifth single off the record: Piece By Piece.

Mew – Carry Me To Safety
Mew makes music that lies somewhere halfway progressive rock and dream pop. Letâs just call it mewsic. Their debut album came out 20 years ago. Since then the Danish band released six records and number seven is on its way.
The new body of work is slated for a 28 April release and is called Visuals. The closing song on the album precedes it as its first single. Carry Me To Safety is an atmospheric song that will be embraced by Mew and Alan Parsons fans alike. A delight!

Cold War Kids – Love Is Mystical
Cold War Kids make serious music. Seriously good music, as well. Which doesnât mean theyâre not in for a little fun from time to time. Three years ago, for example, they were involved in a project with Belgian beer brewer Stella Artois, where they used beer glasses as instruments. This resulted in the track A Million Eyes.
Just over ten years after their debut album Robbers And Cowards, Cold War Kids finished their sixth long player. L.A. Divine will be released on 7 April, but the first single is already here. Love Is Mystical is a banger, with a piano that bears enough resemblance with the intro of Fat Boy Slimâs Praise You to sound familiar, without being very similar at all. Catchy tune!

Gabrielle – Vekk Meg Opp
Gabrielle – not to be confused with the British 90âs singer that wore an eye patch – is a Norwegian pop singer, although she started her career flipping burgers, cleaning and hosting a radio show (now thatâs what I call progression đ ). In 2011, her very first single Ring Meg reached number 1 in her home country, was certified 10 times platinum and became the most streamed single in Norwegian history at that point. That track and five more singles appeared on her debut album Mildt Sagt.
On her new single Vekk Meg Opp she still sings in her own language and it sounds like Gabrielle is destined for a high chart position in Norway once again. Although translating songs isnât always a good idea artistically, I could imagine a version in English would make this song a true border breaker. But for now, sing hum along with the original!

Nick Capaldi – Disgrace Face
Remember Jim Capaldi, best known as the drummer in Traffic in the late sixties and early seventies of the last century? He sadly passed away in 2005, but his musical genes still wander around in the family.
A distant relative of Jim’s – the talented multi-instrumentalist Nick Capaldi – will release his new album Neon Heart on 19 May. I read somewhere that all of the tracks could be a single (pretty promising) and his bio calls him âone of the UKâs hottest rising musiciansâ. But then again: thatâs what every bio says. At least every bio of upcoming British artists đ
So letâs just judge the man by his musicâŠ
I really like his new single Disgrace Face, so thatâs a good start. I hear a little bit of Blur in it and a little bit of Sparks even, and in places it makes you want to sing Ruby Tuesday, which is never a bad thing. But all in all itâs a smart slice of pop rock that should be able to give Nick Capaldi the attention he deserves.

Betsy – Waiting
Only in January 2016 Welsh singer-songwriter Betsy released her first EP Fair. This was followed by the single Lost And Found, which combines her Cher-like voice with a rhythmic underscore. The artwork of this single pictures Betsy in front of an old caravan; the actual caravan in her brotherâs garden where she wrote her first tunes.
Her career has yet to start off big time, but Iâd be surprised if Betsy couldnât exchange her caravan for a proper house anytime soon. Her new single Waiting is further proof of her talents.

Roads To Roam – We Are
As you know, all roads lead to Rome. But apparently, Hilversum (the Netherlands) 5-piece Roads To Roam prefers to wander around. Which doesnât mean theyâre not ambitious. On the contrary. They certainly have a goal, and eventually they will get there.
Last year, Roads To Roam presented their 7-track debut EP A Guide To Your Mind, featuring the great singles Building Bridges and Walking Away. The band hasnât sat still since then. They continued writing new songs and yesterday evening, in their hometown, they presented their new single We Are with the accompanying video. Instead of just playing the clip they did a full-blown concert, showcasing their skills without being afraid to honour their musical heroes, like Kings Of Leon and fellow Dutch band Kensington. Bands that are more than modestly popular, who could use some company to keep themselves sharp. Roads To Roam are more than willing to fulfil that role. Onwards to Rome!

Van Echelpoel – Ziet Em Duun
Some tracks take a little more time to sink in than others. This is one of them. But I presume that if thatâs the case with me, it might be the same with you. And above all: itâs never too late to introduce you to a good piece of music.
I already mentioned this one yesterday, when it entered the European Border Breakers Chart. Van Echelpoel is a Belgian hip hop duo thatâs singing in a Flemish dialect. A dialect that is so different to Dutch, that even people from the Netherlands can hardly understand it. But music is a universal language, and rather than about the lyrics, this track is about its pounding beat and its tremendous drive.
If you like Yello, youâll like Ziet Em Duun by Van Echelpoel. If you donât like Yello, youâll like it as well. Come on, donât be shy, try it!

Emeli SandĂ© – Highs And Lows
Once she had decided she wanted to be a pop singer, Adele Emeli Sandé chose to use her second name, as there appeared to be a fairly successful singer by the name of Adele already. Before Emeli took the stage, she worked more behind the scenes. She sang on tracks by Chipmunk and Wiley and wrote songs for Alesha Dixon, Professor Green, Cheryl Cole and others.
The Scottish singer debuted as an artist in her own right with Heaven and also scored big with Next To Me, both of which appeared on her debut album Our Version Of Events. Last year she released her second album Long Live The Angels, essentially a collection of ballads. One of only a few more up-tempo tracks is Highs And Lows. A great new single.

Blondie – Fun
Perhaps you werenât even born when Blondie was formed, in 1974. Still, you will be able to sing along with classics like Denis, Call Me and (more recently – âonlyâ 18 years ago) Maria.
After all those years, Blondie shows no signs of giving up. On 5 May, they release their next album Pollinator. It was recorded in New Yorkâs famous studio The Magic Shop, where David Bowie recorded his last two albums as well. Thatâs not all; Pollinator is the very last album recorded in The Magic Shop, before the studio closed its doors forever. You can look forward to collaborations with Blood Orange, Johnny Marr, Charli XCX and Sia. Sounds like Fun, doesnât it?
