Chloe Lilac – 19
By the age of 13, Chloe Lilac sneaked out of her Brooklyn home to perform on the streets of NYC. Building her skills as a self-produced songwriter, she began releasing songs in 2017. After breaking the Top 5 on the US Spotify Viral Chart with her first-ever release, Reckless, she hit the road. Lilac supported mxmtoon and Tessa Violet, played headline dates and performed at showcase festival SXSW. With over 30 million Spotify streams to her name, she’s still considered an upcoming artist. But that’s about to change…
Ahead of her upcoming new mixtape, due out 19 November, Lilac releases a second single off it. 19 (her age when she wrote it) is a rousing rock track, produced by Rory Andrew (Machine Gun Kelly, Two Door Cinema Club). Lyrically, it deals with the alarming state of the world today.
The now 20-year-old artist explains: “I wrote 19 about how scary everything’s gotten in the last two years. I really sat and thought about the state of the world and how weird and out of control everything’s become since the pandemic. I want to stress how grateful I am for my physical health and my family’s health, I’ve been very blessed throughout the pandemic thus far. There’s just so much loss that’s been happening and still happening. It’s really intense, especially being witness to all the tragedy at what seems like the beginning of my adult life.”
