European Border Breakers Chart 1 September 2017
Last year, Dua Lipa (pictured) was the most successful emerging British artist in terms of airplay outside her home country, which won her a European Border Breakers Award last January. The same evening she was handed the Public Choice award. But despite all of that, she never reached the top spot in the European Border Breakers Chart. Until now. In its seventh chart week, New Rules dethrones Jonas Blueβs Mama. Mi Gente by J. Balvin sneaks ahead of him as well, rounding off the top 3.
Further down the EBBChart, there is plenty of action too. And very much to discover. No less than 10 out of all 14 (re)entries this week have never been in the Top 100 before. Highlights included an acoustic cover Elbow-singer Guy Garvey did of David Bowieβs classic Letβs Dance (in at #91), Danish producer Vera who teams up with Norwegian singer Okay Kaya for bouncy single Falling (#94) and another Danish entry: The Dead-Onβs Lovesick (#100).
