European Border Breakers Chart 12 May 2017
Blue is the colour of todayโs European Border Breakers Chart. Blue is the colour that indicates a (re)entry in the chart and this week there are 20 of them. In other words: one fifth of the Top 100 is completely fresh. No other chart lets you discover so much new music, and even better: they are all European artists, breaking outside their home countries.
(Former?) One Direction member Niall Horan and EBBChart regular Jonas Blue (how is that for a coincidence?) are the this weekโs highest entries at #12(!) and #29 respectively. But let me cherry pick the best of the other entries for you. City Lights by Blanche (pictured) received a well-deserved airplay push in a lot of countries, after her performance at the Eurovision Song Contest, last Tuesday. It lands at #52 this week. French band Rocky are in at #73 with Love Is A Soft Machine, which features a New Order-like bassline. For those who like their music a little harder and edgier, there is Starcrawlerโs Ants at #99. Garage rock at its best! And finally, Findlay’s Waste My Time made its way to the chart as well. It enters at #100 this week, so she has a whole chart ahead of her!
Click the โEBBChartโ tab in the top menu of this blog for the complete Top 100 (loading of the PDF may take a little while). For more charts (like the Bubbling Under, which ranks the tracks that are on their way to the Top 100), please visit www.europeanborderbreakerschart.eu.
