European Border Breakers Chart 14 April 2017

The highest entry in the existence of the European Border Breakers Chart is for Harry Styles, who comes in at #2 this week. A very, very impressive achievement, which seems to point in ‘one direction’ only… But perhaps even more impressive is the power displayed by Jax Jones feat. Raye, who retain the crown. Their single You Don’t Know Me was played over twice as often as Styles’s Sign Of The Times last week, and reached double the number of listeners. Harry has some catching up to do…

Among the 14 (re)entries this week, there are five other first-timers: Jim Pandzko feat. Jan Böhmermann (#61), Aston Merrygold (#80), Olsson (#87), Kelly Lee Owens feat. Jenny Hval (#99) and Basic Tape vs. Frances (#100), hailing from Germany, the UK, Sweden and France. How is that for cultural diversity?

My favourite entry this week? No Matter by Basic Tape vs. Frances (pictured). This is in fact a remix by French outfit Basic Tape of the track No Matter off Frances’ album Things I’ve Never Said. The original still sits at #73 in the chart.
