European Border Breakers Chart 14 September 2018
Earlier this week I wrote about new single Why So Serious by Alice Merton, stating she is a good example of an artist who’s early successes first became visible in the European Border Breakers Chart. Another artist we are particularly proud of for the same reason, is Dua Lipa (pictured). Her first hit Be The One entered the Top 100 nearly three years ago. Living up to its name, other than in other lists, Be The One became by far her biggest EBBChart hit. Eight other of her own singles followed the song into the Top 100, just like several tracks where she appeared as the featured artist. In 2017, Dua Lipa won a European Border Breakers Award, and by 2018, everything she touches instantly turns to gold (or platinum).
This week’s highest entry is just another proof she is the pop princess of the 2010’s. Mark Ronson and Diplo’s new vehicle Silk City already scored with Feel About You (feat. Mapei) and Loud (feat. Desiigner & Goldlink), but this week they crash into the EBBChart at a record-breaking #2, reaching just 5% less listeners than the reigning #1, El Profesor. In the Streaming Chart, it even enters at #1! Guess who provides the vocals on Silk City’s new smash Electricity? You’ve got that right…
These are all of this week’s 11 newcomers:
#2: Silk City feat. Dua Lipa – Electricity
#35: The Blaze – Runaway
#41: Alice Merton – Why So Serious
#49: Pom Poko – Follow The Lights
#59: Tamino – Tummy
#76: The Blaze – Breath
#77: Dr Brs feat. Halott Pénz, Fekete Vonat, Monkeyneck – Hol Van Az A Lány
#78: Tamino – Sun May Shine
#83: Felix Sandman – Imprint
#87: Blu Samu – Sade Blu
#92: Ama Lou – Tried Up
