Holy Holy – Faces
Holy Holy used to be an Australian guitar duo. Well, Oscar Dawson and Tim Carroll are still Australians, but on their upcoming third album, they ditch the guitars. Instead, they are moving away from their trademark solos and riffs in favour of sampled vocal loops and programmed synth bass lines, on top of layers of live and programmed beats. This new sonic territory has a harder, more synth-y edge than their earlier music.
New single Faces is the first taste off this new album. Rest assured, there are still some guitars, but overall you can hear a reborn Holy Holy. Their new record is mixed by Rich Costey, who is known for his work with Arctic Monkeys, Chvrches, Muse, Haim, Franz Ferdinand and many others.
