Inge van Calkar – Imaginary
When Dutch singer-songwriter Inge van Calkar featured in a TV talent show, she played an acoustic guitar. Five years on, she exchanged this instrument for an electric one. The rest of her music was given a shot of electronica as well. This new recipe became the starting point for her upcoming second album, tentatively titled Black Confetti.
New single Imaginary precedes the album. Itβs a sexy pop rocker, that sounds a little bit darker than before. In Van Calkarβs own words: βThe new songs describe a side of humanity youβd rather not show.β
The singer cites bands like Radiohead and Grizzly Bear as musical references, as well as strong women like PJ Harvey and Alanis Morissette. At the same time, Imaginary is a catchy pop song that brings Kylie Minogue to mind.
