Joan – Tokyo
If youβre anxiously waiting for new music by The 1975, try Joan in the meantime. This 80βs-inspired duo from Arkansas, comprised of Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford, channels gated drums, funky guitars and synth blasts from the past into great radio pop songs.
Try their first two singles Take Me On and Love Somebody Like You as an introduction, or jump on their new single Tokyo at once. Well-written, executed and produced pop music, that already earned them support slots with Alice Merton.
About their latest track, Joan says: βTokyo is about that moment when you’re falling for someone, but your time is running out. Overtaken by spontaneous, crazy love, you end up saying: βLet’s just run away togetherβ.β
