Last Train – Between Wounds
I love music from France, but thinking of French music, rock isn’t the first genre that springs to mind. Not my mind, that is. Okay, I recommended Shaka Ponk as recently as a week ago and FFF only two days before… Oh, and BB Brunes featured here as well… Hmmm, my point isn’t really coming through…
All I wanted to say, is that most of the music crossing over from France isn’t rock. But maybe Last Train is this year’s exception to that rule. Formed in Mulhouse, Last Train is a young band that sounds like the revelation of French rock. Singer Jean-Noël has a voice like a gravel tennis court, reminiscent of Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones. Which is a compliment, in my world. Musically, the influences I hear range from Oasis via Radiohead to Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club.
After their EP’s The Holy Family (October 2015) and Fragile (October 2016), they finally released their debut album Weathering last Spring. It features the hard-hitting single Between Wounds, that entered the European Border Breakers Chart at #95 last week.
