Minyeshu – Aynocheh (Your Eyes)
For many years (for ever?), the United States and Great Britain have been the main suppliers of artists with worldwide success. This one is for people who arenβt only prepared to listen to music from other Western countries, but who are even prepared to listen to music from other cultures entirely. Because great music is produced all over the worldβ¦
Please, meet Minyeshu Kifle Tedla, who was born in the city of Dire Dawa in the east of Ethiopia. After joined the leading National Theatre of Ethiopia at the age of 17, she developed her artistic multi talents as a singer, dancer, producer and choreographer. Currently based in Amsterdam, she treats us withΒ hypnotic Ethiopian grooves, stunning vocals and melodies, delicately mixed with Western instruments and styles.
On 26 October, Minyeshu releases her new album Daa Dee. Aynocheh (Your Eyes) is the first single off it. Another song with irresistible grooves, thanks to the prominent bass and horns, Aynocheh is about finding love, your soulmate and best friend.
Ethiopian world music that deserves a worldwide audience!
