Moscow Apartment – Halfway

Their band name notwithstanding, Moscow Apartment consists of Canadian singers-and-songwriters Brighid Fry and Pascale Padilla. The teenagers released their self-titled debut EP in 2017 and picked up a Toronto Independent Music Award, a Canadian Folk Music Award and a Canadian Songwriting Award within a year of their formation.

Their sophomore EP Better Daughter is set to be released in June 2020.Β Ahead of this second EP, Moscow Apartment released two singles simultaneously: Halfway and Meredith Palmer.

Besides band mates, Brighid ans Pascale are also best friends. And best friends can have big fights. Halfway is the result of one of those. They explain: β€œOne day we had a big fight and Pascale wrote the beginning of our new single, Halfway, as a way to ask Brighid for forgiveness. Brighid wrote the second verse and worked on the chorus, giving birth to this song. We produced Halfway with Guillermo Subauste (mixed by Scotty Hard) and approached its recording in an experimental and relaxed mood.”

The songs on the new EP will showcase the writing talents of the two teens. But in the last year and a half, they have also co-written with three-time Grammy winner Chin Injeti, Shalom, Dave Thomson and Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew.
