Nilüfer Yanya – Stabilise

Her Feeling Lucky? Remix EP, released late last year, was the last new material we heard from Nilüfer Yanya so far. The EP followed the London singer and songwriter’s 2019 debut album Miss Universe.

Last week, she dropped the good news her sophomore long-player Painless is on its way. We’ll have to be wait until 4 March 2022 though. Luckily, the announcement came with a brand new single: the hyperactive track Stabilise. The accompanying video was shot by her sister and long-time creative collaborator Molly Daniel.

Yanya explains: “I was really thinking about your surroundings and how much they influence or change your perception of things. A lot of the city is just grey and concrete, there’s no escape. The video plays on the central theme in the song of no one coming to save you ever. It’s set in depths of reality in every day life where we are the only ones truly capable of salvaging or losing ourselves. Nothing is out there, both a depressing and reassuring statement (depending on how you look at it). Sometimes you have to dress up as a spy or a rock star and just hope for the best.”
