Public Service Broadcasting – People Will Always Need Coal
In June 2017, People Will Always Need Coal was released as one of the teaser tracks for Public Service Broadcastingโs album Every Valley, that offers a window into the world of Welsh mining in its heyday. Now, the song has been chosen to become their next proper single.
The tracks opens with a genuine recruitment advert from the 1970s, depicting an absurdly glamorous vision of life as a miner, followed by an authoritative voice assuring the listener that there is enough coal to last another 400 years. What follows, is a track that slowly builds to a grand final with a great drive.
