Sløtface – Backyard
Try Not To Freak Out! That’s not only a piece of good advice, it’s also the title of Sløtface’s upcoming debut album.
Following on from Magazine, Nancy Drew and Pitted, Backyard is the fourth taster of the album, which in its turn is the follow-up to the EP’s Sponge State and Empire Records. The song, that somehow reminds me of Chicks On Speed (especially in its vocal delivery), is largely recorded in one take, only the cello was added later.
Guitarist Tor-Arne Vikingstad says of the track: “I’ve tried for years to get the band to write an ‘LCD Soundsystem’-rock track, and we finally did it. It ended up being the most fun we’ve had in a studio in a long time. Like, the guitar is 80% just scratching and hitting random strings. I hope this song can inspire kids and teens to start bands consisting of scratching guitars and shouting.”
