Smallpools x morgxn – Slowdown
I still love LA indie-rock trio Smallpools for their 2013 debut single Dreaming. Released before the start of this blog, I played it a lot in my then Carte Blanche radio show. Singer-songwriter morgxn however featured her a few times already.
Now, the two acts team up for a collab thatβs more than the sum of its parts. Slowdown is an electro-pop tune with more than a little hint of Daft Punk, courtesy of that funky guitar.
The single deals with the struggle we all face in todayβs fast-paced society, where we feel pressure to be constantly on the go, pushing for more, needing more, making more, but we lose sight of the simple things in life that bring us joy. It urges us all to take a step back, take a deep breath and slowdown, if just for a moment. Not only when a virus forces us to, but also when the current pandemic is over.
