St. Lucia – Rocket On My Feet
In the current musical climate, itβs rather unusual for an act to wait four years before releasing new material. But in my opinion, choosing quality over quantity is always a good idea. And thatβs exactly what husband-and-wife duo Jean-Philip Grobler (born in South Africa) and Patti Beranek (from Germany) have done.
Rocket On My Feet is Brooklyn-based St. Luciaβs first single since 2018; their debut on new label home Nettwerk Records. The track starts with a synth-driven beat before launching an undeniably groovy crescendo of punchy drums, airy vocals, and slick guitar melodies. With its shimmery pop grooves, it sounds like a disco-fied version of Killing Jokeβs Love Like Blood.
βIn a way, this is my personal rebellion against the darkness of the world,β states Jean-Philip. βItβs easy to feel depressed these days, so Iβm trying to bring something joyous to the world. I was sick of seeing shit on the Internet, and I just wanted to feel good. Thatβs what being human is about. We have to feel alive, no matter what is happening around us.β
