Werner’s Weekly (week 29)
A diverse set of music acts, ranging from Suede and The Hunna, via Galantis and Sigrid to Sofi Tukker and Confidence Man, was added to my 2018 gross list Carte Blanche Music last week. That playlist is updated constantly and contains the best music that the year 2018 produced so far. It’s impossible for me to review all of those tracks here, so please follow that list for a bigger picture of great new music. All killers, no fillers.
Every Monday I present you with a more condensed overview. Werner’s Weekly features only the best of the best, and is your compass to the music that matters. You can listen to them all via the Werner’s Weekly player in the sidebar and get more information by clicking the links below. Enjoy!

TenTemPiés – Only You
A Dutch band with Chilean blood running through their veins. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? Well, wait ‘til you’ve seen TenTemPiés live! Crafting their own unique blend of rock, ska, reggae and rumba, with lyrics inspired by political issues and social injustice worldwide, this is a band that makes you think and dance at the same time.
Since the release of debut album Canto Para Gritar, in 2011, TenTemPiés has been on the road almost non-stop. Hot on the heels of their latest single El Verano, that was taken from their third album A Mi Propio Paso and came out only two weeks earlier, they now release the brand new follow-up Only You, produced by Perquisite. Usually, TenTemPiés sing in Spanish, but this is a rare outing that includes English lyrics as well, which tastes moreish!

Of Good Nature – Take Me Anywhere
Of Good Nature is an American reggae rock band that was formed in 2011 by guitarist Cameron Brown, percussionist Joey Vachon, trombonist Brandon Hucks, bassist Jon Reed, and drummer David Hamilton Jr..
Take Me Anywhere is Of Good Nature’s new single, the first of three upcoming singles this year. The band is already leaving its mark across the US and Canada, and this track sounds like it could take their career to the next level.

Werner’s Weekly (week 10)
It’s impossible for me to write about all good music that comes out each week. So I must make a selection for this blog. With a few exceptions to the rule, I usually choose brand new artists to feature on Carte Blanche Music, tracks that you probably haven’t heard yet, and that would run the risk of passing by unnoticed if I wouldn’t place them on a pedestal.
But there is so much more… Thankfully, there is Spotify. My Carte Blanche Music playlist has enough room to feature all great new tracks that appear each week. Not only by brand new acts, but also by more established artists like Little Steven, Bush, Lorde, DJ Premier, Di-Rect and Spoon. All of them great acts, with great new songs. Subscribe to that playlist and you’ll never miss any good new music anymore. Promised!
Which brings me to this week’s alphabetically sorted list of my most highly recommended tracks: Werner’s Weekly (which you can subscribe to as well, of course). Listen to these eight songs via the Werner’s Weekly player in the sidebar and read my recommendations by clicking the links.
- San Fermin – No Promises (this week’s Wildcard)
- MisterWives – Machine (last week’s Wildcard)
- Banner. – Compass
- Disciples – On My Mind
- Dreadzone – Area Code
- Groenland – Healing Suns
- Kid Francescoli – The Player
- The Curious Incident – Honey Hunger

Dreadzone – Area Code
In 1993, former members of Big Audio Dynamite (who were in The Clash before) founded a new band: Dreadzone. They redefined dub by mixing it with elements of dance, rock, folk and breakbeat, gradually building a reputation as an energetic and powerful live act.
Existing for over two decades, the band just released its eighth studio album Dread Times and this is my favourite track on it: Area Code. It features 90’s ragga duo Louchie Lou & Michie One (best known for their hit Shout from 1993) and sounds a little like an updated version of The Selecter’s On My Radio.
