Caravan Palace – Supersonics
Arnaud Vial, Charles Delaporte and Hugues Payen first met in 2005. They were asked by a movie production company to write music for a porn film set in the 1950s. Not much later, they decided to form Caravan Palace. The band produce, what they call, ‘electro swing’; a style that mixes jazz and electronic music.
30 August, Caravan Palace release their fourth album Chronologic. Earlier this year, it was preceded by the singles Miracle, About You (feat. Charles X), and Plume. New single Supersonics is out now as well. Immediately recognizable, but with added elements that appear to be influenced by the euro house sound of the early ‘90s.

Werner’s Weekly (week 18)
So far, 2017 is a great year for music. Among the many additions I did to my container playlist Carte Blanche Music are brand new songs by artists as diverse as Estrons, Little Steven, Depeche Mode, Circa Waves and Blondie. But that’s not all…
Most of the music you hear on the radio is from American or British artists. But there is so much more to enjoy! Each week, I check new music from all over the world for this blog. The best tracks of the last week are in Werner’s Weekly, presented here in alphabetical order. You’ll find artists from the US and UK, but also Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Australia, Spain, Colombia and Ukraine. Check my recommendations via the links and listen to the music via the playlist in the sidebar. Enjoy!

Robbie Williams – Heavy Entertainment Show
Robbie Williams is one of those artists that youth stations don’t play anymore. Arguably because of his (successful) swing projects. And it’s mainly his swing songs that are played by stations that aim for an older demographic. Nevertheless he is still very popular, looking at the large number of people who come and see him live. So, one could argue radio is missing the point nowadays, or at least ignoring a large group of people.
Well, perhaps that’s not a discussion for this platform…
When Robbie Williams released his 11th studio album Heavy Entertainment Show in November 2016, it was preceded by the epic title track. By then, this was only a teaser however, for the official first single Party Like A Russian came out only a week later. It performed underwhelmingly in the charts (and on radio, of course), like the later singles Love My Life and Mixed Signals.
Only now, Heavy Entertainment Show gets its full single release, accompanied by a video clip. I hope it’s not too late, for I think it’s a brilliant mix of Robbie’s pop and swing repertoire. A great song with a great video!
