Talk In Code – Young Love’s Dream

Quite honestly, Talk In Code are not the most prolific band in the world. But I can only praise their ‘quality over quantity’ approach. Following a debut EP in 2008 and a single in 2012, they put out their eponymous debut album in 2014. None of these are to be found on the streaming platforms, except for the single Make It Happen off said album. In 2018, their second album Resolve followed.

After a slew of singles in 2020, the next year may appear to have been a lot quieter. That’s not true, however. The UK quartet spent 2021 well, playing festivals and gigs, and preparing their third long-player. This new album, The Big Screen, is set for release on 11 February.

First single Young Love’s Dream is out now. It’s a radio-friendly ‘80s flavoured pop song. The band state it ‘explores the themes of childhood hope and possibility before life presents its many twists and turns and we go our separate ways from those we love… or do we???’

I’ve read a lot of comparisons with other artists, ranging from Pet Shop Boys and The Killers to Daft Punk and The 1975. I’d say Talk In Code is very likely to appeal to fans of Coldplay and M83. But hey, why don’t you decide for yourself?
