The Mazarines – Afterglow
After playing a few movie roles around the turn of the century, actress Renee Faia is currently the lead singer of The Mazarines. Sheโs in the band with her partner Gregg Stewart, who adds his baritone vocals and shimmering rhythmic guitar. The Mazarinesโ sound walks the line between dream pop and atmospheric folk with a dash of late 60’s French pop.
Since their eponymous debut EP, the duo took six years to come up with a follow-up, aptly titled Deux (which, dรปh, is French for โtwoโ). Afterglow (below) is the lead track of this second EP, but please, also lend your ear to the bandโs dreamy, โTwin Peaksโ-esque take on Echo & The Bunnymenโs The Killing Moon.
