The Tibbs – Lies
Formed in 2012 in the Dutch capital Amsterdam, The Tibbs fit seamlessly in the revival of soul and funk, that is manifest both in Europe and the United States. This 8-piece band started off covering obscure instrumentals and forgotten classics from the Memphis soul and northern soul archives, but started adding their own songs soon.
Although The Tibbs’ new single Lies is a brand new track, it sounds as authentic as the ones that inspired the combo, with Sharon Jones as their most obvious influence. Instrumentation, production and not in the least the hot and raw vocal delivery of singer Elsa Bekman make this song as timeless as it’s classy.
Lies precedes a new album by The Tibbs, that’s expected in 2018.
