Wildcard (week 26):
Jara – Something Else
Jara Jurado is the singing vocalist in metalcore band Before The Flood (alongside his co-vocalist screamer). As a solo artist, Jara makes music that’s accessible for a much larger audience. ‘Alternative pop’ or ‘indie rock’ gives an indication of what to expect.
Jara, a musician and songwriter from San Diego, is inspired by ’80s horror films like ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’ and ‘The Lost Boys’, as well as artists like Prince and The 1975. Combining dark themes and classic romance, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’d be a Panic! At The Disco fan as well.
His new single Something Else shows off a soulfully emotive voice and deep rhythms on guitar and piano/keyboards. A very well-produced song with a wicked bridge!
Something Else by Jara is this week’s Carte Blanche Music Wildcard, so it features here prominently for seven whole days!
