Wildcard (week 31):
Emily Ricks – Call It Falling
Emily Ricks, currently 23 years old, has played many roles in TV and film since the age of 8. However, the self proclaimed loner and music addict describes music as her ‘best friend’ growing up. The first instrument she learned was the drums, then the piano, then guitar. Now, ten years later, she has developed her own distinctive musical style she is ready to share with the world.
A year and a half on from the release of her debut track, Call It Falling is her fourth single. The tune, which clocks in just under two minutes, sees the emerging LA singer-songwriter exploring heartbreak. Sounding like a love child of The Killers, Paramore and Avril Lavigne, the explosive tune bursts with urgency, energy, charismatic appeal and charm.
Call It Falling by Emily Ricks is the new Carte Blanche Music Wildcard. This implies that it will be prominently displayed at the top of the blog for an entire week.
