Alicia Di Giovanni is an upcoming Australian musician, based in Sydney, who performs under the stage name Aliya. She makes pop/rock songs, inspired by powerhouses like Maggie Lindemann, Olivia Rodrigo, Tate McRae and Paramore’s Hayley Williams.

Music is like therapy for Aliya. Her personal, vulnerable and self-reflecting lyrics deal with relationships, the thoughts they provoke and the anxiety that can come with them. Expressing and sharing her emotions help her (and hopefully others) overcome the challenges of life.

I’m Out! (One, Two, Three), only her third single to date, is a good example. It’s an energetic song with pounding, drum ‘n’ bass-like beats and ripping guitars. On her socials, Aliya explains the track is ‘about my experiences with anxiety and how it can just take over your life, not knowing how to deal with it’.

This week, I’m Out! (One, Two, Three) is the new Carte Blanche Music Wildcard. This implies that it will be prominently displayed at the top of the blog for an entire week.
