Wildcard (week 45):
Bloxx – 5000 Miles
Young British band Bloxx released no less than five singles ahead of their debut album Lie Out Loud. These set a high standard, but the record didnโt disappoint. On the contrary: their best single was yet to be released.
Elsewhere, 5000 Miles was put out to coincide with the album release in late August. Here in the Benelux the track is only out now, but it was well worth the wait. Itโs an up-tempo song with catchy guitars, a driving beat and stadium-sized vocals. Each radio station worth its salt should put this on its playlist.
โI wrote the lyrics to 5000 Miles 35,000 ft in the air, on a flight back from New York where I had just met my girlfriend for the first timeโ, shares vocalist Fee Booth. โI was drinking red wine and crying. Itโs an heir to love and lust and how it can be hard in the beginnings of a long distance relationship where youโre thousands of miles away from each other! Itโs a fun-take on it.โ
5000 Miles by Bloxx is the new Carte Blanche Music Wildcard, so it will feature here prominently for a whole week!
