Anna Sofia – No. 5
When I first wrote about Anna Sofia, over two years ago, she was only 16 years old. In the meantime, the Toronto singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist released three EP’s, followed by five singles in 2021. All of them reflecting on life, describing the drama of becoming an adult in a brutally honest way.
No. 5 is her first single of the year. It sees Anna Sofia facing fears and acknowledging the internal work it requires to be brave enough to face it. Musically, as always, it’s a hyper modern track, which manages to capture an atmosphere of nostalgia as well. In this case, it’s the synth drum which throws us back to the ‘80s.
Anna Sofia says about the track: “No. 5 is a song about fears. Big ones and little ones. In this song I speak about all my fears from spiders, to not being good enough for anyone. I have always been one to avoid my fears but this song reminds me to face them instead.”
